No Hibernating in North Bay

No Hibernating in North Bay!

Well, the plan for this entry was to write about staying active in winter. Up until a week or so ago, those activities might have included biking, raking leaves, and maybe even cutting grass instead of snowshoeing and ice fishing! But the snow has finally arrived and the winter lovers are quite pleased.

There are many activities in the area that are available to people of all ages. Just in North Bay alone there is ringette, hockey, curling, and figure skating for organised sports. Looking for something a little more casual? How about public skating, snowshoeing the trails, or ice fishing? If the ice ever comes, that is….

If skiing is your deal, then head to Laurentian Ski Hill. They have 10 runs to try. Never skied before? They can provide lessons and have rentals right on site. North Bay can also boast about the best Terrain Park in all of Northern Ontario. It is the perfect place for snowboarders at all skill levels to learn new tricks.

If you are willing to stray out of North Bay, there are multiple ranches where you can go horseback riding all year round. And if you want to travel a bit further than that, there is dog sledding in South River and ice climbing in Batchawana Bay and Nipigon.

So there are a few ideas. Now get up and enjoy the winter weather.
